Carpenter Ant Explosion
Take a look at this video showing how Carpenter Ants can get into the various places in your house and cause alot of devistation.
A colony and a satellite colony of Black Carpenter ants infesting a living room home. This type of ant infestation normally takes years to develop. Carpenter ant colonies are very difficult to find in homes and if the infestation is left neglected you could have thousands of dollars worth of damage to your home. You can find more information on Carpenter Ants and other infestations at www.infestation.ca

Kenny, see if my comment above helps. Last year I trapped them with this method, but then had to clear out the area and killed the hell out of them with a flat strong box. Like the bottom of a kleenex box. I am allergic to the sprays. Fly-swatters don’t so shit. These nasty things are resiliant. I will keep you in my thoughts. I know how creepy it feels. Hope this helped somewhat. OH, also boric acid or/and baking soda, They HATE powders. You gotta corner them 1st though.

bait…
jasonw5846 on 26 May 2009 at 12:50 pm #
no need for exterminator…just use bait sites. Exterminators are overrated.

Hi, Jason! Thankyou! But what kind of bait? Does’nt it depend on the type of ant? And also, how do you work it so you are getting them from the inside going out? We know they are inside, but not exactly where. If you have any suggestions, it would sure be appreciated!! Thankyou!

time to move

First you have to find where they are coming from, might take some time but you can isolate the spot pritty quick if its a bad problem. Look for travel routes or common spots seen by you. If they appear in only one room…then their in the wall floor or ceiling, look behind electrical outlets if needed and listen in each wall for a paper like crunching noise. Use: Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel…follow directions.

THANKYOU, Jason!! Where can you find this gel?? Does it really work that good?? What if you have moisture problems or damp spots…wouldn’t that make hearing them kind of hard? We can’t quite figure out exactly where they are coming from, but your advice is appreciated, Really! Thankyou, I will try what you said to do. I just need to know where to get that gel. Can you get it from stores like home depot?, or do you need to get it from an exterminator? Again, thankyou!!!

I just found a colony this size in my basement below my kitchen sink. My house is only 7 years old. The creepy part is, I work out in my basement and have heard the crinkling nose time after time and never knew what it was. There was a massacre in my basement today. about 8 big ones with wings and hundreds of others.

I just located and destroyed a nest in my house. I don’t know if any got away, and are relocating their nest, but for two years in the summer time I could hear that weird sound coming from behind the trim piece above a window jam. I really didn’t think much of it, but the other day, it was really loud, and constant. I got a chisel, and a hammer, and pried the trim back a little, and sure a shit a couple carpenter ants came out. I had a vacuum ready, and sucked up a bunch, then closed it up.

It was too late to deal with all of them, and I had no insecticide. I woke up the next morning, took the whole trim piece off, and saw hundreds of them bastards. I kept scraping them out with a ruler, then vacuuming the ones that came out. I Did this for about 20 minutes straight. Put some shipping tape over the opening, then cracked out my $7 can of delta dust, that comes in a can with a built in duster, pulled back just the edge of the tape, and dusted the crap out of them.
massmang on 05 Jun 2009 at 10:55 pm #
Hundreds were dead in about 2 minutes. I left the dead ones there. The ants that were not there for the dusting came to see what was going on, and to attempt to get the larva, and covered themselves with the dust in the process. Delta dust works great on these things. It’s like talcum powder, and sticks to them very well. They groom themselves, and each other, and when they do they get a nice lethal dose of poison. They end up bringing the poison to the rest of the ants as well.

ROFL THE OLD VACUM KILLER
203948tag on 10 Feb 2010 at 7:45 pm #
I think it was an insecticide or ant killer spray of some sort… but yeah! I remember the good old days when my mother would vacuum up a bug, and put a bag on the hose end and secure it tightly with a rubber band! Ha Ha!

What happens if there was a world without ants? I know, we’re pest-free!
