How can you tell a Carpenter Ant from a Pavement Ant?

I have some ants on my back porch. They’re bigger than a sugar ant. Also, have seen an ant with wings. They’re less 1/4 of an inch long. I put out some Advance Carpenter Ant Bait but they don’t seem interested in it.

I’m at a loss. If they’re carpenter ants, I want to get rid of them as soon as possible before they end up in my house.

If they have wings, they are termites.

The carpenter ants carry teeny little hammers and saws.
