Carpenter Ants? Please help.?

Hi :)

I just have a few questions about carpenter ants…

Do you need to use non-repellent insecticide to get rid of them?

I read somewhere that this is the only thing that works, as they can smell all other poisons and avoid them.

Is it okay to kill them in my house?

I also read that killing them (without insecticide. And yes, I know I can’t get rid of all of them this way.) makes the queen lay more eggs and you can end up with way more then what you started with.

Last question, will they destroy my guitar? I don’t know if the finish on it will deter them or not and I’m thinking if it doesn’t I may have to store it someplace…

Oh, and quick note: Did you know you can actually hear them chewing at night?? It’s so creepy o.O
