Are winged or flying Carpenter ants a sign of a dying colony??

Hi All, About three weeks I go I gave the (non-flying) carpenter ants as much Terro as they would eat..I had 100s of them feeding at one time..within a day I found lots and lots of dead ones all over the house. And over the next week more dead ones. I also located a nesting area and entrance point. Now my question is this, I see only a scarce non-flyer..but lately I have been runing into quite a few winged ones (which I haven’t actually seen fly). They are bigger and uglier and I was wondering if there making an appearance could be a sign of a colony in trouble, adn possibly dying off. I believe I also had a Queen the other day(wingless but as big as flyers). Does anyone out there have experience with dying colonies of carpenter ants?? I’m just hoping my battle is almost over for now…I’m sure more will try and move in eventually.. And NO it’s NOT termites.;)
Thanks in advance for any answers!!

Fly Tying with Ryan- Ryan’s Fire Ant

Ryan Gabert ties one of his favorite summer time patterns. Trout seldom pass up the chance to eat an ant. Ryan started tying his Fire Ant last summer and had great success. As temperatures start to warm, trout will start to key on terrestrials. Ants patterns are so effective that they deserve ample room in your fly box.

Look like giant carpenter ants?

but they fly…Size about that of the carpenter ant thinner and have long narrow wings….resemble that of a sst airplane but on a very small scale…..do they eat wood(specially if it is wet)…my question really is what type of ant are they…and what does it take to get rid of them…I live in central florida…

I have found small white worms in my bathroom, are they termites?

I have found several small white worms in my bathroom and I am wondering if they are termites. My house is about 25 years old and I am in the process of renovating the bathroom because there is a lot of molding. My shower leaks and has caused alot of water damage on and inside the walls that surround it. But I have found a few white worms crawling around. They are quite small about the size of a fly but I am really scared that they could be termites…do I have anything to worry about?

I came home today to find a dozen carpenter ants and hundreds of larvae underneath everything in my apartment.?

Only saw a few ants, but I’ve killed hundreds of larvae. They don’t seem to be near food, just underneath stuff, especially paper. They seem to appear out of nowhere as well. I don’t know if it is fly larvae and the ants were eating it or if it is the carpenter ant larvae. If it’s the carpenter ant larvae, why are they on my floor? why not in their nest? Help please. Thanks.
