Are winged or flying Carpenter ants a sign of a dying colony??
Hi All, About three weeks I go I gave the (non-flying) carpenter ants as much Terro as they would eat..I had 100s of them feeding at one time..within a day I found lots and lots of dead ones all over the house. And over the next week more dead ones. I also located a nesting area and entrance point. Now my question is this, I see only a scarce non-flyer..but lately I have been runing into quite a few winged ones (which I haven’t actually seen fly). They are bigger and uglier and I was wondering if there making an appearance could be a sign of a colony in trouble, adn possibly dying off. I believe I also had a Queen the other day(wingless but as big as flyers). Does anyone out there have experience with dying colonies of carpenter ants?? I’m just hoping my battle is almost over for now…I’m sure more will try and move in eventually.. And NO it’s NOT termites.;)
Thanks in advance for any answers!!

How can you repel fire ants?
I tried looking this up but everything tells me how to get rid of them completly by killing the queen. My friend is having a wedding outdoors tomarrow. We saw today that they are everwhere and we just need to know how to make them stay away from us for an hour?

Carpenter Ants? Please help.?
Hi
I just have a few questions about carpenter ants…
Do you need to use non-repellent insecticide to get rid of them?
I read somewhere that this is the only thing that works, as they can smell all other poisons and avoid them.
Is it okay to kill them in my house?
I also read that killing them (without insecticide. And yes, I know I can’t get rid of all of them this way.) makes the queen lay more eggs and you can end up with way more then what you started with.
Last question, will they destroy my guitar? I don’t know if the finish on it will deter them or not and I’m thinking if it doesn’t I may have to store it someplace…
Oh, and quick note: Did you know you can actually hear them chewing at night?? It’s so creepy o.O
