How can I tell if I Have Termites ?

I saw something on the outside wall. I want to know it is mud tunnels or not. how can I upload the photo to let you see and tell me the answer. Can termites fly or jump ? How can I know my house has termites or not ? Thanks.

    If it is an active tunnel, when you break it open it will have some very, very small white almost worm like critters. Those are termites.

    Termites only fly in the spring when they swarm to form new colonies. They really need moisture to survive. The mud tunnels protect them as they go from the soil to the wood in your house. The tunnels can be as small as the lead in a pencil. Many times you will find ants very near by, because the ants farm the termites as we might cattle.

    The best and safest thing to do is have a professional take a look. Most will inspect for free in hopes of getting a contract to treat. Just be careful they don’t try to sell you a bill of goods. Ask your friends and neighbors for referrals if possible before you call.
