Termites??

A house that I am in the process of buying has a small termite problem. The inspector found some termites under the basement stairs. My real estate agent has said that the house should be treated for termites because termites are a big issue in the area. I’m wondering about how much it would cost to get the house treated. It is a bi-level house with 1700sq feet. I am trying to get an idea so I wont be stunned when I find out.

I’d guess the treatment would be in the range of $2,000 to $3,000. There is no such thing as a "small" termite problem. Make the sellers pay for the treatment and provide at least the first years warranty before you close on the house

for a thorough treatment you are probably looking at a price in the area of $2500 – $3500 and i may be running low here.

Depending on the type of termite (drywood vs.subterranean)the area of the country and treatment method, prices can vary. Here in NE Florida I charge anywhere from 3 to 5.50 per linear foot for a repair warranty or drywood treatments 5 to 9 per linear foot.Get several estimates and pay attention to the product used. After 17 years in the business, Termidor and Premise are the 2 best products on the market.
