What attracts carpenter ants?

They are flying ants I think they might be called carpenter ants. They come in my house about this time of year. (EVERY YEAR) Lots of them. I bought some flying insect spray and some for our yard. Seems to be helping. They seem like they are half dead when they are here. always in the kitchen a little bit in the living room (rooms are next to eachother no walls)

They first make a colony in cellulose. wood. outside your house.
Look for a wood fence touching the ground, a wood pile, a dead tree or stump. Then they move into your house. You must not have any wood touching the ground or within six inches, so you can see them climbing up the wall.
You can treat your house, but you have to eliminate the colonies about the property. If your neighbors have them, bewre. you may have to deal with it.Legally. Termites and carpenter ants have to have water also.

moisture in the ground and the walls (and maybe in the support beams)…sometimes water can leak in the roof into the walls and on down…
